Health department goes mobile to connect rural residents to services
HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — A local health department is giving another opportunity for people to receive care.
It is an off-site clinic provided by the Henderson County Health Department that is available to residents from around the area.
If you are not sure if this is something you can take advantage of, the county director of the Henderson County Health Department, Emily Rushing, gave us some more information.
“Anybody that could receive our services. So uninsured adults aged 19 to 64 that don’t have insurance can come here and see a provider, get their medications, all on a sliding fee scale,” Rushing said. “So that’s a great service for the community. People can receive WIC services here, STD testing and treatment. So really a multitude of services. If they have questions they can call us and find out.”
Some other services that are provided include checking your vital signs, lab testing, pregnancy testing, and birth control. This was not a one day thing — Rushing tells us of other times when you can make a visit.
“We are doping an off-site clinic here in Parkers Crossroads at Fire Station #3. We are going to be doing this the second Tuesday of every month, and then in Reagan, Tennessee, the fourth Tuesday of every month at their fire station,” Rushing said.
If you were not able to get there on Tuesday, Rushing tells us what we need to do for the next time.
“It would be better if they can call in and make an appointment at [731] 968-8148, or they can just show up and we would be happy to help them,” she shared.
Rushing says this is a good opportunity for people who live further away from Lexington to come in and receive their health department services without having to go all the way into town.
