Tragic crash claims the life of West Tennessee student

WEAKLEY COUNTY, Tenn. — A tragic crash claimed the life of a West Tennessee student this week.

According to a GoFundMe, Izzy Guy, a Dresden High School student, was killed in the wreck that also left others injured.

A preliminary report by the Tennessee Highway Patrol shows the single-vehicle wreck occurred around 9:05 p.m. on Tuesday night in the 30,000 block of Palmersville Highway 89 in Weakley County.

The report states that the vehicle was traveling north on the highway when the crash occurred.

Wednesday, Dresden Enterprise shared a statement released by Director of Weakley County Schools, Jeff Cupples, which reads:

“With profound sadness, we have learned of a loss to our Weakley County Schools community. Last night, we received notification that a student was involved in a fatal vehicular accident near the Palmersville area. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. We also offer heartfelt condolences to all Dresden High School students, faculty, and staff. As our school community processes the tragic news and copes with grief, counseling and bereavement support services are available to students and staff. Our district response team will assist Dresden High and other schools as needed in the coming days. If you have any concerns about your child’s reactions to this loss, feel free to contact your child’s teacher, school counselor, or a member of the administrative team at your child’s school. The impact of this tragedy is immeasurable. We ask that you keep the family of this student in your thoughts and prayers during this time,” Cupples stated.
