Jackson Rotary Club meets, discusses city’s economic developments

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Rotary Club met at First United Methodist Church today, May 22.

The event began with Melinda Reid presenting Don McCory, the executive director of the African American Chamber of Commerce, with a certificate for becoming a Jackson Rotary member.

Kyle Spurgeon, CEO of the Jackson Chamber, along with the Chief Development Officer, Mandy White, gave a Powerpoint presentation to the club members.

They spoke on the economic development over the years and how the Jackson Chamber is a four star accredited chamber.

New jobs were also spoken of, such as Dixie, which will open on June 14th and 6K Energy.

“You gotta take care of your existing companies first. So we spend a whole lot of time doing that. We have a dedicated staff worker that works with existing companies. Because those companies that are looking at moving here, they’re gonna talk to existing companies, so we strike that balance by first paying the most attention to our existing companies that are here,” said Spurgeon.

Spurgeon and White also expressed the economic impact in 2023, and how they see a 5% growth in manufacturing year after year.
