Few More Rounds of Storms Coming Friday, Severe Threat Late Sunday

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
It has been a fantastic evening across West Tennessee and most of us will stay dry overnight. There will be a few showers in the morning for us, but storms will look to return Friday evening/night. The weekend looks mostly dry, but there will be some strong storms Sunday night into Monday morning. TONIGHT:
Another round of showers and storms are expected to developed again early Thursday but we are expecting a nice and quiet evening. The cold front bringing the severe storms on Wednesday stalled out close enough to our area that some more rain and storms popped up. We saw a mostly cloudy day start to the day but the sun made an appearance late in the day. The winds on Thursday came out of the southwest and were light and will stay light out of the tonight. Chances for rain on Thursday night sit at 40% as we get closer to Friday morning. Thursday night lows will fall down again to the upper 60s again.
FRIDAY:
Another low pressure system riding the stalled out front looks to be heading our way to wrap up the work week. It looks as of now more storms are coming with some of them being strong and maybe severe again. We could see some early morning showers and storms but some stronger ones developing in the afternoon and evening.
Expect another mostly cloudy day with the winds remaining out of the south. The southerly winds will keep the humidity up all weekend long across West Tennessee but will help fuel the showers and storms as well. Highs on Friday will again reach the mid 80s under the clouds and showers all day. Rain chances on Friday are 80%. Friday night lows will only dip to the upper 60s for another night.
MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND:
As of now we are going to keep rain in the forecast for the first 2 days of the 3 day weekend. The forecast could change depending on where the late week storm system tracks as it approaches and slides across the Mid South. It will be a warm and humid weekend with southerly winds regardless if we get the storms or not. If you have outdoor plans this weekend you need to monitor the forecast closely as the week progresses to determine the best day for outdoor plans which as of now appears to be Monday. Saturday looks like the nicer day of the two with the best chance of avoiding showers and thunderstorms.
Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s with morning lows in the upper 60s. The winds are forecast to have a southerly component to them all weekend long as well. There is also a chance for some stronger storms or severe weather this weekend as well with Sunday being the day we need to keep the closest eye on things. The timing of the worst of the storms looks to be late Sunday evening into Sunday night. Outdoor plans on Sunday might need to be cancelled as severe storms seem more likely than not as of now on Sunday. We will sort out the threat as we get closer to the weekend before you finalize your plans.
NEXT WEEK:
We are expecting the severe weather and storms to move out for our Memorial Day and the beginning of next week. Temperatures are going to be cooler behind Sunday night’s cold front. We should see plenty of sunshine starting on Memorial Day and continuing into the first half of next week. Highs on Monday will reach the low 80s, but mid 70s are possible for both Tuesday and Wednesday from the northwest winds behind the front. We are expected a dry start to the work week as well, at least through Wednesday. Morning lows may even fall back down to the 50s for both Monday and Tuesday night’s next week.
FINAL THOUGHT:
The weather is looking quite wet for most of the week and upcoming holiday weekend in West Tennessee. A few rounds of severe weather look likely this week so please stay weather aware and check on the weather forecast. Temperatures will stay above normal all week and the humidity looks to be a factor the entire week as well. If you are looking for a dry day, you might have to wait until Memorial day, as several days already above a 70% chance through the weekend. We will be tracking the storms all week in the 7 Storm Team Weather Center and you need to monitor the forecast as well if you are planning on some outdoor activities for the upcoming 3-day weekend.
