Mary Nell Phipps
Mary Nell Phipps, 90, of Union City passed away 2:05 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2024, at The Waters of Union City.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Pastor Justin Hiens will officiate. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Trent Cary, Kyle Stover, Steven Hines, Rob Stover, Eddie Finch and Dusty Phipps.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services Tuesday.
Mary Nell was born March 3, 1934, in Union City, daughter of the late Ezra and Mattie (Carmichael) Gardiner. She married Bobby Phipps September 25, 1950. He preceded her in death December 25, 2004. Mary Nell had been employed at the former Salant & Salant in Union City for 20 years, was the owner and operator of the former Shenanigan’s with her late husband Bobby and was a homemaker. She enjoyed fishing, walking, cooking and doing crafts. Mary Nell attended Second Baptist Church in Union City.
She is survived by six grandchildren, Chad Phipps, Chanee McDaniel and Kyle Stover all of Union City, Misty Hines of Paducah, Kentucky, Dusty Phipps of Halls and Kaila Eaves of Hornbeak; 17 great grandchildren; one sister, Kay Atwill of Union City; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her three children, Mike Phipps, Billy Joe “Pee Wee” Phipps and Jan Ogden; one granddaughter, Jennifer Pitts; and three sisters, Winnie Ruth Siglow, Dorothy Lucille Haynes and Betty Sue King.
