Shiloh Nat. Military Park celebrates the holiday weekend with a unique event

SHILOH, Tenn.—A local state park celebrates the holiday weekend with a look back through military history.

Shiloh National Military Park is hosting a Military History event this weekend.

Today’s event offered a unique glimpse into the lives of U.S. soldiers.

The event follows the U.S. military timeline, highlighting the various uniforms worn, along with equipment and weapons used by soldiers throughout the Revolutionary War up to World War II.

The family friendly event also featured firing demonstrations throughout the day.

“The living historians are having a blast, talking to all of the visitors. We’ve had close to 30 people watching our first firing demonstration, which was amazing and the Visitor’s Center itself, the new museum has been busy; packed all day long. It’s just been wonderful,” said Chris Mekow, Park Ranger, Shiloh Nat. Military Park.

And don’t worry if you missed today’s history lesson, the event continues Sunday from 11 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon at Shiloh National Military Park.

There is no cost for entry.
