West Forest shooting: Multiple detained, police seek additional suspects

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE JACKSON POLICE DEPARTMENT:

Jackson Police is asking for the public’s assistance with identifying multiple suspects responsible for a shooting in the 900 block of West Forest Ave. that occurred on May 30, 2024, shortly after 7:00 PM.

Jackson Police responded to Shot Spotter alerts at about 7:13 PM on May 30. The system alerted to numerous rounds having been fired in this area from multiple guns. No injuries were reported during this incident.

Investigators with the Jackson Police Department responded to assist Patrol and a search warrant was conducted. Officers discovered multiple firearms, and narcotics, and made several arrests from a residence near the shooting incident. Final charges are pending on suspects in custody at this time.

Ballistics evidence has revealed that several of the same firearms have been discharged at multiple locations over the past few weeks. Investigators have preliminary evidence that indicates the shooting on West Forest Ave. involved firearms that have also been used in other recent shootings.

Investigators have reason to believe this incident was a continuation of a series of targeted shootings. It is apparent that this and other recent shootings were not random.

Jackson Police have made several arrests related to these targeted shootings in the past few weeks. In an effort to keep the citizens of Jackson safe, we work in a concerted partnership with the District Attorney’s Office to keep those involved in these shootings in custody. Even so, some have made bond and have been released pending trial. Jackson Police continue to search for additional suspects that have outstanding warrants related to these shootings.
