Defense calls final witness to the stand as Swift trial nears end

FURTHER COVERAGE:

DRESDEN, Tenn. — Tuesday afternoon the defense called one last specialist to the stand before the judge charged the jury.

David Williams shared his expertise on mobile location with mobile devices.

While on the stand he shared the time that Karen Swift’s phones were last pinged.

While doing this, he shared that the information given on the same topic from a previous agent who took the stand, was not as accurate as his.

“Karen swift’s phone did not disconnect from the networking sender until 5:09 (am) not as the agent said 4:38 (am), the reasonable test the source of the file, also if you look in the middle it’s a home router– It’s called home agent IP, that is the router that the network extender was connected to as you can see that is the exact same address for all of those line items,” said Williams.

This case will now lie in the hands of the jury.

After listening to the last witness, the judge then charged the jury for tomorrow’s court.

“The defendant pleads not guilty to each and every offense embraced in the indictment. The evidence in this case has now been completed and it is my duty now to instruct you as to the law. The law applicable to this case is stated in these instructions and it is your duty to carefully consider all of them,” said Judge Mark Hayes.

Tomorrow’s court day will begin at 8:30 a.m. in Dresden.
