UPDATE: Target armed robbery suspect arrested, identified as 16-year-old

UPDATE (6/5/24) FROM THE JACKSON POLICE DEPARTMENT:

Jackson Police has identified and arrested the person responsible for the brazen robbery, which occurred in the restroom of Target on Saturday afternoon.

A 16-year-old juvenile is currently in custody and is being charged with Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Assault, and Burglary.

In consultation with the District Attorney’s Office, District Attorney Jody Pickens advises he will be seeking transference to adult court based on the severity of the crime. Video surveillance captures the victim and his child entering the business and the restroom.

The suspect is captured on video following and entering the restroom behind the victim and his child. It is alleged the suspect brandished a firearm on the adult male and his six-year-old child robbing the male of his property before fleeing the business. Additional video surveillance from an area store captured the suspect using the victim’s credit card to make a purchase shortly after the robbery.

During the investigative process, Jackson Police was able to utilize technology, Flock Camera, to assist in identifying the vehicle and registered owner. In addition, with assistance from the community and the individual’s family, the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

JACKSON, Tenn. — On 6/1/2024 at around 12:00 p.m., officers with the Jackson Police Department responded to an armed robbery at Target located at 93 Stonebrook Place.

The victim stated he was in the restroom along with his 6-year-old son when a Hispanic male, that was approximately 5’8” in height and approximately 170 lbs., pointed a handgun at him and demanded his belongings.

The victim stated he gave the suspect his personal belongings and the suspect ran from the store.

A short time later, the suspect used the victim’s card at Dick’s Sporting Goods.

The suspect was last seen in a black Toyota Rav 4.
