PRESS RELEASE FROM JACKSON CHRISTIAN SCHOOL:

Jackson Christian Sophomore Jack Veazey Soars in Singles Tennis State Tournament, USTA Standings

JACKSON, Tenn. (June 3, 2024)Jackson Christian School, a private, Christian-based college preparatory school located in Jackson, Tenn., cheered on sophomore tennis standout Jack Veazey as he made his bid for state. Not only did he come home with the Div. II-A singles championship trophy, but he also won it in straight sets against a familiar and worthy opponent, Lausanne junior Sathvik Nath, 6-0, 6-2.

Veazey regularly plays in tennis’s United States Tennessee Association tournaments throughout the year, and is currently ranked as the number one player in the state for 16 and under, according to USTA. Nath and Veazey have a familiar rivalry and friendship, often facing each other as well as playing together in doubles on the USTA tour. Nath won over Veazey in the region finals 3-6, 6-3, 4-6 only weeks before they met again in the state championship match.

After losing in the finals of the Regional tournament, Jack told me that he would be ready for State,” Jackson Christian Coach Scott Lochridge said. “His level of play improved each match during the state tournament, and he played at a high level in the finals.”

Veazey’s win over Nath brought his individual 2024 school record to 12-1.

“Jack is a remarkable athlete, as well as a fine young man,” Athletic Director Darby Palmer said. “He continues to put in work in the classroom and on the court every day, and we are tremendously proud of his success.”
