Jackson residents celebrate Global Running Day with 5K run

JACKSON, Tenn. —  Many grabbed their running shoes in celebration of Global Running Day.

Fleet Feet Jackson, along with the Jackson Roadrunners, hosted a free 5K fun run Wednesday.

Not only is Global Running Day a time for experienced runners to re-dedicate themselves to their passion for running.

But it’s also for beginners wanting to make a life-changing commitment to running.

If you’re starting out, make sure you have properly sized shoes and remember to hydrate.

Lauren Magee is the event coordinator for Fleet Feet Jackson and shares the main reason behind today’s 5K.

“Our goal is to create community around running and we think this is a perfect opportunity to get people outside, being active together, building jackson’s growing community. Just doing our part to get people moving,” said Magee.

Leading up to the 5K, Fleet Feet had an 8 to 10 week training program to get runners ready for the big day.
