Jackson’s federal courthouse renamed in honor of local judge
JACKSON, Tenn. — Many came together this evening to honor a judge who has made a lasting impacting.
Today a ceremony was held commemorating the naming of the James D. Todd United States Courthouse, located at 111 South Highland Avenue in Jackson.
Friends and colleagues of the honorable James D. Todd say he was often a mentor to others and was known to unify opposed to divide.
The honorable James D. Todd shares what this honor means to him.
“It’s very humbling and it’s not something I ever sought or think I deserve, but I appreciate so much their effort in getting it done,” said James D. Todd, U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Tennessee (senior status).
“I’ve known Judge Todd for over 60 years. He’s the kind of person that exemplifies greatness in the work that he does. He’s always had a tremendous demeanor, extremely intelligent, fair, equitable. He’s the kind of person we need in these positions,” said Judge Thomas Stanley Anderson, U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Tennessee.
Judge Todd was appointed by president Ronald Reagan.
