“Project Playhouse” brings non-profits together for a good cause

JACKSON, Tenn. — An event that brought community engagement and team building was held at the West Tennessee Farmers Market.

Project Playhouse, a fun fundraiser event by Habitat for Humanity, had community teams building and designing.

Nikki Gano, the volunteer coordinator for Habitat for Humanity, said that this event was about generosity.

“So we’re promoting home ownership at an early age. We also selected our recipients based on wanting to bring non-profits all over the community together so that we can all work together to support our community,” said Gano.

Gano said that all of these organizations support family and children.

The color splash sponsor was Adelsberger Marketing, and the headline sponsor was Fellowship Bible Church.

Linsey Sparks, family services manager for Habitat For Humanity, told us that all of the money from the fundraiser goes to affordable housing.

She also said that fellowship has a playhouse that will go to WRAP and Isaiah House and that Blueoval SK has a house going to Hands Up Preschool.

“And they also have a house going to a previous homebuyer of ours so it’ll be in her backyard. We just finished that house a little less than a year ago,” said Sparks.

“TLM Associates, they are giving their house to the Dream Center, Leaders Credit union is giving their house to the Boys and Girls Club, Delta Faucet is giving their house to CASA, which will then go to a foster family and our restore is giving their house to Aspell Recovery Center,” said Sparks.

Sparks said that they let the recipients tell them the types of designs that the kids would be interested in.

“I heard there’s gonna be a Spiderman house,” said Gano.

“Yeah, there’s gonna be a Spiderman house. Some pretty cool stuff, yeah!,” said Sparks.

Little houses equal big hopes, and they hope for homes in the community to be safe, stable and affordable.

All organizations started picking up their playhouses at 4 p.m.
