Local church offers free community health fair

JACKSON, Tenn.—One local church is helping community members learn ways to stay healthy.

Maranatha SDA Church located at 360 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive in Jackson hosted its annual Community Health Expo today.

The expo began at 1 this afternoon and continued until 5 this evening.

The church provided the expo as a way to educate the community on ways of getting healthy and avoiding illnesses.

At the event, there were free services offered including blood pressure and blood sugar screenings.

The expo also offered resources and information on combating multiple diseases as well as suggesting ways of making healthy lifestyle changes.

“I am just thrilled that people come out and want to know, because a lot of times, they won’t go to the doctor. ‘I don’t have any money, I don’t have, you know, and I can’t go.’ But you can come here and get your blood pressure done, checked, glucose done, checked, and we have professional nurses that do those things,” said Jacqueline Bright, Health Ministries Assistant.

This is the third year Maranatha SDA Church has hosted this event.
