Heat Around the Corner, Rain Back in the Forecast Early Next Week
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:

It was been another great day across West Tennessee. We are going to start to warm up though tomorrow and the heat will increase as we wrap up the work week and head into the weekend. Some heat advisories cannot be ruled out this weekend. Some rain is in the forecast early next week, but will temperatures cool down?

Temperatures have been up and down the last couple weeks across West Tennessee and have hung around normal for this time of the year. We have seen above normal amounts of rain this Spring but we might finally be seeing a pattern change across the Mid South. Not only are we looking at a potentially extended dry period, the hottest weather of 2024 so far looks to be on the way this weekend. Find out just how hot things are going to get and how long the heat will be sticking around for coming up

2024 HURRICANE SEASON FORECAST:

TONIGHT:
Rain showers will stay away for out Tuesday night but a few clouds may be lingering into Wednesday. A light breeze out of the north kept temperatures below normal with highs reaching the upper 70s to near 80° in the afternoon on Tuesday. Tuesday night lows will be very pleasant and fall down to the mid 50s overnight due to the dry air mass sticking around the Mid South.

WEDNESDAY:
High pressure will continue to control our weather for the middle of the week. That means mostly sunny skies and another rain free day. The winds are expected to be light and come out of the northeast. Highs on Wednesday will reach the low 80s and Wednesday night lows will drop down to around 60°.

THURSDAY:
The great weather is likely to continue on Thursday. Thursday highs will be a little warmer and reach the mid to upper 80s as the winds will change to the east during the day and maybe to the southeast by late in the day on Thursday allowing Thursday night lows to fall to the mid 60s. Rain again will stay away on Thursday.

FRIDAY:
The humidity and temperature will begin to climb across West Tennessee as we get closer to the weekend. Highs on Friday will make it up to the low 90s and it will feel in the mid 90s in the afternoon. The winds are forecast to vary in direction at times as an area of high pressure will move around us. Sunny skies are expected again and no rain is expected. Friday night lows will only drop to around 70° to kick off the weekend.

FATHER’S DAY WEEKEND:
The hottest weather of 2024 so far will be here this weekend. For the first time this season we are expecting highs to reach the mid 90s and the heat index (feels like) temperature will peak above 100° at times with Father’s Day being even hotter than Saturday.

The winds will have an easterly component to them on Saturday before coming more out of the southeast on Sunday. Weekend morning lows will start out in the low to mid 70s. Rain may look to come back early next week but we are not expecting showers or storms at this time for the upcoming weekend.

NEXT WEEK:
A low pressure system will develop in the Gulf of Mexico this weekend and track to the north early next week. As it moves to the north, it looks like it is going to pass close enough to the Mid South to bring some rain showers back to West Tennessee on Monday and Tuesday. Forecast confidence in where the low is going to move once it moves on short is low right now. There is a chance we miss out on the rain but it looks more likely than not we are going to see some early next week. Highs will stay in the upper 80s to kick off the week and the winds are forecast to come out of the southeast. Morning lows will stick around 70° for the first half of the week as well.
FINAL THOUGHT:
After several rainy and stormy weeks in a row, the pattern change looks to have finally returned to West Tennessee. Dry weather is expected this week and could stick around into next week as well. Highs will stay cool to kick off the work week but each day during the week will be hotter than the previous day and that will continue into the weekend as well. This weekend will be the hottest weather of the year so far so make some outdoor plans for this Father’s Day Weekend.
