African American Fest continues in Humboldt

HUMBOLDT, Tenn.—The hot temperatures didn’t stop one local community from enjoying Juneteenth celebrations.

Day 2 of the African American Festival continued today at Viking Park in Humboldt.

The event offered fun for the entire family with live music, dancing, kids activities, and a variety of foods available for purchase.

There were also vendors on site selling various items including clothing, cosmetics, jewelry and more.

The event had the opportunity for free health screenings and educational presentations were also presented.

The festival is hosted to coincide with Juneteenth, which is observed on June 19 and celebrates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the U.S.

Admission for the event was free.

“Just come on out, bring your chairs, you know bring your coolers, just sit down and have a good time, and for the entertainment,” said Brenda Boles, owner Brenda’s Classic Corner Boutique.

This was the eighth year for the festival to take place.
