David Harris Kelly
David Harris Kelly, 78, of Union City passed away 10:45 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2024, at his home. He was born July 22, 1945, in Lake County, Tennessee son of the late Walter Glenn Kelly and Irene Jennings Kelly. He grew up in Hickman, Kentucky and attended Fulton County High School, later relocating to Union City in August 1964.
Mr. Kelly was a member of the Kentucky National Guard for seven years. He was employed by the Life of Georgia Insurance Company in Union City for several years and retired from the former Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Union City after 31 years of service.
Mr. Kelly and his wife, JoAnn, were involved in volunteer ministries at the The Arbors and the Union City Manor for several years, along with the late Liz Cagle, which was the highlight of every week visiting and ministering God’s Word and song to the residents. David also enjoyed being a member of the Home Street Church of God in Union City and took part in their Christmas ministries at the Lake County Prison in the past. He was also a member of the Pastor’s Counsel of the Church of God. David enjoyed Goodyear retirement breakfast club meetings with Goodyear friends monthly.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Brad Davis and Brother David Kelly will officiate. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of services Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Stan Kenton, Chuck Murphy, Chaco Hill, Royce Stanley, Josh Cox and Todd Spraggs.
Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Holt, Jerry Thompson, Freddy Johnson, Pete Whitten, Don Darnell, Bob Hicks, Keith Yates, Jesse Peters and Dan McKinnis.
David is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jo Ann Phillips Kelly, of Union City whom he married on August 28, 1964; two daughters, Kammie Kelly Thompson Union City and Melody Kelly King, Franklin; one son, David Benjamin (Ben) Kelly, of Rives, and a daughter-in-love, Shannon High Kelly he considered his daughter-in-love or bonus daughter; his grandson, Tyler Channing King, of Nashville; his granddaughter Kristin Leigh Chipman and Grandson-in-love of Clarksville who he also considered as as a bonus grandson to him; one great grandson, Camden Chase Chipman, of Clarksville the joy of his life whom he called his “little man”; his sister, Frances Kelly Noble of Greenfield; a special niece, Annette Kelly Peters of Union City; several other nieces and nephews; and special friends, Richard and Brenda Holt of Rives.
He was also preceded in death by his one sister, Bettye Jane Kelly; and six brothers, Billy Glenn Kelly, James Patrick “Jimmy” Kelly, Miller Leonard Kelly, Paul Edward Kelly, Jackie Walter “Jack” Kelly and Robert Griffin “Bobby” Kelly.
