NAACP hosts candidate forum for November ballot contenders

JACKSON, Tenn. — Candidates on the November ballot visited the Jackson-Madison County branch of the NAACP.

The event was a candidate forum for the candidates to connect with and answer questions from community members.

Candidates for U.S. senate, state legislators, and school board attended the meeting.

President of the Jackson-Madison County Branch of the NAACP, Harrell Carter, says it’s important for people to get to know who they’re voting for.

This event gave the people the opportunity to do that.

“This is an opportunity for your input. In order to make sure that the candidate understands who you are, what values you have, how you value your community, you’re going to have to know who that candidate is and what they think,” said Carter.

Early voting begins July 12.
