Ribbon cutting held for Godwin Park

JACKSON, Tenn.—Madison County Parks and Recreation unveils a new park with the help of a local family.

One community can now enjoy a new place to play thanks to help from one local family.

The Godwin Park was unveiled today at 3525 Christmasville Road.

The ceremony took place at noon and several members of the Godwin family were present to join in the celebration.

Over seven generations of the Godwin family united together along with Madison County Parks and Recreation to provide the new playground for the community.

“The playground is just the tip of the iceberg as far as what we’re doing out here. We have a grant written right now that the state is scoring. If it gets funded, along with other parks we’re doing, there will be a new pavilion and restroom facility and some paved parking out here at Godwin,” said Matthew Martin, Director of Parks in Madison County.

The park is meant not only as a place for children to play but as a place to foster new friendships among community members.
