TDOH event unveils plans for a new health department in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Tenn. — The West Tennessee Regional Health Office of the Tennessee Department of Health hosted a groundbreaking event today.

The occasion marked the unveiling of plans for the new Henderson County Health Department.

The event took place at the future facility location on College Drive in Lexington.

From providing vaccinations and vital records to promoting primary care and family nutrition, health departments do more than people realize.

Plus, they offer help navigating a complicated health care system.

“We would encourage anybody who, if they’ve never visited their health department, to come on in, talk to our folks here and see if we can help them out, and so many opportunities. I mean, if you don’t have your health, you don’t really have anything,” said Ralph Alvarado, state health commissioner.

Leaders say the mission of the Tennessee Department of Health is to protect, promote, and improve the health and well-being of all people in Tennessee.
