City leaders meet to appoint new finance director, discuss speed limit studies

JACKSON, Tenn. — Two meetings were held Tuesday afternoon by county leaders for different reasons.

The first was a meeting of the Financial Management Committee. On the agenda was the appointment of an interim finance director.

The person named was Michelle Sellers.

Sellers worked under former finance directors Mike Nichols and Karen Bell.

According to Michael Taylor, chairman of the finance committee, Sellers has agreed to be the interim finance director until a new finance director is named.

In another meeting, the Highway Committee met to discuss a couple of speed limit studies requested in separate parts of the county. One to the southwest, the other to the northeast.

“Primarily it’s on Uptonville Road in certain areas, It’s an area that’s been– speed limit out there need to be brought down a little bit. On Christmasville Road, we just opened up a park out there as well, the Godwin Park, there’s a lot of houses been built out in that area , so we just want to slow it down. We’re gonna slow it down a little bit,” said Madison County District 10 Commissioner, Andy Hall.

Hall says after studies are completed the findings will be presented to the highway commission.
