UPDATE: One person has died following Brownsville motel shooting
UPDATE and CORRECTION:
BROWNSVILLE, Tenn.— Brownsville Police Department issues an update on Friday’s motel shooting.
According to Brownsville Police Chief Kelvin Evans, the shooting victim, Aslam Wilson, from Friday’s motel shooting has passed away at Regional Medical Center in Shelby County.
Chief Evans says the shooting suspect was never taken into custody on Friday and is believed to be heading towards Mobile, Alabama. Authorities are working to find the suspect. The suspect, Justice Clyde Morgan, will now face a First-degree Murder charge.

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE FROM BROWNSVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT
BROWNSVILLE, Tenn.—At approximately 1600 hours on June 28th, 2024, Officers were dispatched to the Sunrise Inn at 328 W. Main St. in Brownsville, TN. Once there, they discovered Aslam Wilson suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was stabilized and transported to the Regional Medical Center in Shelby County for treatment. Officers were able to speak to witnesses on the scene and determine that the individual responsible is a Justice Clyde Morgan of Alabama. It is believed that Morgan has fled the area and may be heading towards the Mobile, AL area. Both individuals were employees of The State Group, a construction subcontractor on the BlueOval City site.

Brownsville shooting leaves one man critically injured
BROWNSVILLE, Tenn. — Police in one West Tennessee town are investigating a shooting.
According to Brownsville Police Chief Kelvin Evans, a 9-1-1 call was received early this afternoon about a male being shot at the Sunrise Inn on West Main Street in Brownsville.
Chief Evans confirms an ambulance was dispatched to the motel and later the victim was transported to Regional One in Memphis in critical condition.
One arrest has been made in connection to the shooting. Chief Evans tells us the victim and the alleged shooter knew each other.
The identities of the victim and suspect have not been released at this time. This is an ongoing investigation, stay with us on air and online as we work to gather more details.
