Gas prices across the state rise by six cents

PRESS RELEASE FROM AAA - THE AUTO CLUB GROUP

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Gas prices across the state rose six cents, on average, ahead of Independence Day last week, before holding steady over the weekend. The Tennessee Gas Price average is now $3.16 which is 12 cents more expensive than one month ago and five cents more than one year ago.

Tennesseans paid an average of $3.17 per gallon on July 4th, which was 11 cents more expensive than last year, but $1.25 cheaper than 2022.

“Concerns over geopolitical tensions and Hurricane Beryl are creating upward pressure on our gas prices,” said Megan Cooper, spokeswoman for AAA – The Auto Club Group. “So far, it looks like the impact of Hurricane Beryl on the Gulf Coast refining capacity could be limited, however, the possibility of significant rainfall could have impacts on demand. We likely will not know the full extent of the storm’s impact on gasoline prices until several more days.”

National Gas Prices

The National average for a gallon of gasoline was $3.51 on Independence Day – one penny less expensive than last year and $1.29 cheaper than Independence Day 2022.

Today’s national gas price average is $3.50, which is five cents more expensive than one month ago and three cents less expensive than one year ago.
