Young Entrepreneur’s Market offers a unique opportunity to local youth

JACKSON, Tenn. — One event coming up in the Hub City is giving young people a space to showcase their budding businesses.

Local moms who are entrepreneurs are uniting together to provide a supportive platform for their children and other young people to explore the basics behind running your own business.

“It is the Young Entrepreneur’s Market. It will be this Saturday from nine to twelve. We will have vendors set up outside and some inside,” said Laura Grisham, owner of Grinning Soul Crochet.

The event will be held at ‘The LOCAL‘ in downtown Jackson

What is unique about this event is the multiple vendors from the ages of 5-years old to teenagers that will be selling a range of items including handmade crafts, art and more.

“We’re going to have the Imagination Library set up as well, giving away books,” said Raina Shultz owner of Sprinkle Me Sugar.

“It’s really great for us to have this space to be able to provide those opportunities for kids and young adults,” said Grisham.

Schultz said the idea for the Young Entrepreneur’s Market came about after her twin boys wanted to expand their Lego collection.

“Anything is possible. Let’s get creative and think of stuff. We were already going to sell some cookies in our neighborhood,” said Shultz.

So she took her own experience in entrepreneurship and after connecting with other parents, came up with the idea.

“I thought this will be a great way to involve a lot more kids, and to really teach. We are entrepreneurs and so we are setting an example for our kids,” said Shultz.

Organizers say The LOCAL is all about supporting growing businesses and events like this help to define young people and showcase their hard work and creativity.

Organizers also say the goal is to be able to provide support and a space for the community’s youth with more events like this one in the future.
