Shooting in north Jackson leaves one man dead

JACKSON, Tenn. — One person is dead following a Sunday afternoon shooting in north Jackson.

On Sunday, July 14, at approximately 12:50 p.m., officers with the Jackson Police Department responded to a 911 call of a shooting on 51 Marlow Drive.

Upon arrival, officers found 31-year-old Winston Pearson lying in the driveway of the residence with multiple gunshot wounds.

Pearson had already died due to his injuries when officers arrived. Neighbors stated to us that they did hear gunshots but they did not see anything.

According to JPD, investigators quickly developed 24-year-old Daniel Lake as a suspect in the shooting.

Lake has been charged with first degree murder and tampering with evidence at this time.

Lake was taken into custody on Monday afternoon and transported to the Criminal Justice Complex. He will be formally arraigned on his charges in Jackson City Court on Tuesday morning.
