HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — Humboldt police have issued a press release confirming the death of a child in West Tennessee.

According to authorities, officers were dispatched to West Mitchell Street in reference to an unresponsive female on Monday. EMS later arrived and determined the child was deceased.

Authorities say the child’s body has been sent to the Medical Examiners Office in Nashville to determine the cause of death.

On July 15, 2024 officers of the Humboldt Police Department were dispatched to West Mitchell St in reference to an unresponsive female. Upon arrival officers found an 8-year-old black female who was located who was unresponsive. EMS did arrive and it was determined that the child was deceased. The body was sent to the Medical Examiners Office in Nashville for examination to determine the cause of death. This is an active death investigation awaiting the results of the autopsy.
