RIFA’s Pack the Bus food drive to return August 3
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Regional Inter-Faith Association (RIFA) is thrilled to host its Pack the Bus food drive.
The 13th annual event will be Saturday, August 3, at five local grocery stores in Jackson.
Pack the Bus benefits the snack backpack ministry which provides easy-to-prepare, nutritious food to elementary school children for the weekends.
The food collected will fill snack backpacks that provide each child with six meals and two snacks.
“You know in Jackson’s school system, kids receive free breakfast and free lunch everyday no matter the income and there are a lot of children on the weekend who go home to very little or no food in their homes,” said Denice Walton, director of development for RIFA.
Last year the event raised 15,000 pounds of food.
