Miss Tennessee Teen Volunteer pageant comes to close

JACKSON, Tenn.—The Miss Tennessee Teen Volunteer pageant is back in the Hub City.

Many residents filled the seats of the Carl Perkins Civic Center for the Miss Tennessee Teen Volunteer competition. This is a title awarded to the winning contestant by the Miss Tennessee Volunteer organization, a non-profit based here in Jackson.

“What we have tonight is our teen pageant. Actually, we have fifty-seven young ladies from across the state of Tennessee here tonight to compete for Miss Tennessee Teen Volunteer and Miss Tennessee Iris Teen. On top of that we’ve got thirty-six littles who are competing for Little Miss Tennessee Volunteer and Pre Teen Miss Tennessee Volunteer,” said Emily Sparks, Executive Director.

All of the participants in the Iris Teen competition are judged in three categories and Teen Volunteer contestants in the competition are judged off four categories.

“The Iris Teen contestants, they compete in fitness, they compete in interview and then evening gown as well. And then our Teen Volunteer, who go on to compete for the national title, they will compete in interview, evening gown, fitness, and then talent portion as well, ” Sparks said.

Sparks says this program has a positive impact on contestants growth, relationships, and leadership.

“While today is a bittersweet day, because we are losing four amazing young women that we have loved. We’re really excited because we get to welcome in four young women into the Volunteer family and get to be with them for the next year. So, we love our outgoing queens and we can’t wait to see who our new queens are going to be. But, we’re just really excited to be here in Jackson,” Sparks said.

The Miss Tennessee Volunteer pageant is coming up next week. Wednesday through Friday is preliminary competition and the crowning is on Saturday at the Carl Perkins Center.

The winners announced for tonight’s competition are Miss Tennessee Teen Volunteer 2025 Kristin Henning (Tennessee Iris Festival) and Miss Iris Tennessee Teen 2025 Katherine West (TriStar).
