Olympic gold medalist shares what makes a good viewing party
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Paris Olympic games are around the corner and many fans will plan watch parties to root for team USA right from home!
Three-time USA Olympic gold medalist swimmer Brooke Bennett shares her party advice.
First, customize the theme in a creative way. This may mean ranking your snacks with crafty medals or customizing shirts.
Second, encourage everyone to share their predictions. Bennett predicts that team USA will win the most medals in swimming.
Third, safety is important, so take special care to teach kids to be water safe since summer parties are often near pools.
Also, Bennett shares to keep an eye out for new specialties coming up.
“We have a windsurfer from Clearwater, where I currently live, who’s competing in windsurfing iQFOil and this is the first time this event is being introduced into the Olympics so it’s where that windsurfing board actually comes up out of the water,” said Bennet.
Bennett’s final piece of advice? “Be kind.”
Olympians are human and she encourages everyone to remember that, especially when posting on social media or reacting to performances.
