Miss Tennessee Volunteer Pageant returns for night two with ‘Christmas in July’ theme
JACKSON, Tenn. — It’s night two of the Miss Tennessee Volunteer Pageant, and Thursday night’s theme was Christmas in July.
Let’s sleigh on over to the competition!
“They decided to change it up every night. So each night there will be a different theme and I’ve never seen so many people excited about a different theme,” said Lashonda Williams with the Miss Volunteer Pageants.
The Miss Tennessee Volunteer team embraced the cold in the Carl Perkin Civic Center.
Some hosts and some guest were decked out in Christmas colors and even sweaters.
“So tonight we’ll do evening gown, swimsuit, and talent. So, we’ve had a great week so far we had a big crowd last night we’re excited about that and we’re looking for an even bigger crowd tonight Friday night and surely Saturday night will be our biggest night,” said Williams.
Williams has the honor of working alongside the judges for this week’s pageant.
With 35 girls taking the stage, the judges are having a hard time.
“The judges are like ‘Wow we have a lot of great contestants this year.’ Each night they learn more and more about each contestant. Tuesday we spend all day in the interview so you get that one-on-one with the contestant, which is really great,” said Williams.
Contestants are judged on talent, swimsuit, evening gown and Williams’ favorite portion of the pageant, interviews.
“I love the interview I love being able to, because it’s different than on stage you’re not getting to talk to them but when you’re in the interview room you’re getting that one on one. More personal, they open up to you a lot more,” said Williams.
Friday, July 26, will continue the preliminary rounds of the Miss Tennessee Volunteer Pageant.
The winner will be crowned on Saturday, July 27.
