No-Till Field Day in Milan continues for 33rd year
MILAN, Tenn. — The 33rd Milan No-Till Field Day was held Thursday at the AgResearch and Education Center in Milan.
Participants learned the latest developments regarding no-till farming, participated in research tours led by row crop experts from across the Mid-South, and enjoyed a trade show featuring local representatives from agricultural organizations.
This event first began in 1981 as a way to teach producers about the benefits of no-till farming. It continues to attract thousands of people from across the nation interested in improving soil conservation and agricultural production.
“The University of Tennessee and the researchers that spend a lot of time developing practices really played a big role in the ability of our growers to till less, to keep residue on the soil surface and still produce a profitable crop,” said Tyson Raper, cotton specialist with the University of Tennessee.
No-till is utilized by approximately 90% of row crop producers in Tennessee.
