Tax-free weekend in Tennessee to start Friday, July 26
JACKSON, Tenn. — Shortly after midnight on Friday, you could be the first to save on necessities for back-to-school.
Tennessee’s tax-free weekend is arriving and we found a few places where you can save big.
This weekend may not be as big as Black Friday, but the deals may be.
“We’re going to take advantage of the tax-free and hopefully get us some good things,” said Nicole Baugh, a shopper.
Tennessee’s tax-free weekend on clothing, school supplies, and computers begins at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 26, and ends at 11:59, the evening of Sunday, July 28.
Some businesses are having deals where you can save up to 70% off original prices and with those savings also comes tax exemptions.
During this time clothing and school supplies are tax-free if under $100.
“Book bags and school supplies, that’s number one. A few of the locker supplies that’s a good thing on our list; and shoes. Shoes are a big one we really need some shoes and clothes,” said Baugh.
Some department stores also have deals online, these also qualify as tax free at checkout.
Computers may also be purchased tax-free if under $1,500.
According to the Department of Revenue, Tennesseans save an average of $10 million dollars a year during the sales tax holiday weekend.
So, make sure to gather the kids and get out to save, all while enjoying some quality time with them this weekend.
