Janice Sharon (Shobe) Ivey

Janice Sharon (Shobe) Ivey, 77, of Union City passed away 11:08 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Larry Fraser will officiate. Burial will follow in North Mt. Zion Cemetery near Mayfield.

Pallbearers will be Jake Tucker, Tony Westbrooks, Warren Jaques, Shelby Ivey, Marty Moses, Mark Newsom, Johnny Latham and Squizz Roberson.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of services Sunday.

Sharon was born November 3, 1946, in Mayfield, Kentucky, daughter of the late Milburn Howeth and Alpha (Berry) Shobe. She married Jerry Ivey October 12, 1963. Sharon had been employed at General Motor Company Fisher Body Division in Sterling Heights, Michigan in the engineering department. While employed with General Motors Sharon won a contest to name a new car the company was to produce. Sharon came up with the name Chevette which the company chose. She was the owner and operator of Paper Pro in Union City which did book work and tax service for individuals and businesses. Sharon was a member of the United Steel Workers Ladies Auxiliary where she served as past president and treasurer. She was former Girl Scout troop leader and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church #2 near Rives.

The family would like to extend thanks to Twyla Chandler and Freida Bullard for the care they gave Sharon during her illness.

She is survived  by her husband of 60 years Jerry Ivey of Union City; two daughters, Tracey Ivey Westbrooks and husband Tony and Jami Ivey and husband Warren Jaques all of Union City; three grandchildren, Ivey Westbrooks, Jake Tucker and Bailey Nichols all of Union City; one brother-in-law, Bob Ivey (Peggy Petty) of Hickman, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by five sisters, Janelle Weaver, Dathel Latham, Fae Logsdon, Wanda Newsom and Joyce Moses.
