LIFELINE Blood Services Celebrates Milestone Achievement by Donor Sharon Clayton

[Jackson, Tenn.] LIFELINE Blood Services is thrilled to announce that Sharon Clayton, of Jackson, TN, has reached an extraordinary milestone, becoming their first donor to achieve 100 gallons of blood and platelet donations. This remarkable achievement underscores her unwavering commitment to saving lives and making a profound impact on our community.

Sharon’s journey began 42 years ago, and since then, she has consistently dedicated her time and compassion to helping West TN patients by donating. Her contributions have provided critical support to countless patients, demonstrating the powerful difference one individual can make through selfless acts of giving.

“We are incredibly proud of Sharon and grateful for her tireless generosity,” said Melinda Reid, Marketing Manager of LIFELINE Blood Services. “Reaching 100 gallons is a testament to her dedication and the profound impact she has made on the lives of many. Her achievements inspire all of us at LIFELINE and the 21 counties we serve.”

Sharon Clayton began donating blood in 1982, became a platelet donor in 2006, and a double platelet donor in 2010. She has donated a total of 864 units resulting in approximately 932 lives saved. 

In honor of her achievement, LIFELINE Blood Services will host a special recognition event on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at 183 Sterling Farms Drive, where Sharon will be celebrated for her incredible dedication. The come and go reception will be from 11am-12noon.

LIFELINE provides blood services to 21 West Tennessee counties, including 17 hospitals and 21 emergency helicopter service locations and 1 ground ambulance service. Annually, the Center collects approximately 26,000 blood products (red cell units, platelets, plasma, etc.) to meet the needs of patients. Of that total, 75% of those products are usually collected on the bloodmobiles across West Tennessee. LIFELINE also provides reference lab and cross-matching services to healthcare facilities.
