JACKSON, Tenn.– Watch parties were held here in the Hub City for both political parties, as well as for Jimmy Harris and Chris Todd, we visited the locations to check in as results were announced.
In downtown Jackson, at the Idea Factory and Business Center, the Jackson Republican Party gathered to watch the results roll in.
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People also had their own watch party.
For those who were waiting on the results for Tennessee’s representative, one candidate was happy to be supported by friends and family during this time.
“We had an overwhelming support among our friends and our community, we can’t say enough about that. We’re very disappointed in the outcome. I wanna congratulate Representative Todd on winning this race. Its been a long day–a long campaign but we feel like we ran a good campaign,” said Harris.
At the 731 Event Center, Chris Todd was also grateful for the endless support he’s received.
“We’re so humbled by all the support and kind words and encouragement and actions people really worked hard this campaign,” said Todd.
Todd also thanks his wife for her help and shares how this election has gone for him leading up to this moment.
“We live in a very generous community and I’m very proud of Jackson-Madison County and Mayor Harris has been a big part of that so we knew there would be a lot of support for him and we just had to go in it and explain what we’ve done, what our record is, what we stand for and that’s what I’ve stood behind the entire time,” said Todd.
Todd also shares his next plans for returning to this position.
“I’m gonna continue to work on keeping Tennessee the best state in the country to live, raise a family, and to work and you do that by cutting taxes every chance you get–cutting regulations and we’re working on some of that right now. We’ve got some things that will help everybody,” said Todd.
Both candidates agree that, after this campaign, they are catching up on some much needed rest.
