RIFA returns with 13th annual Pack the Bus

JACKSON, Tenn.—One organization is going the extra mile for children in need.

The 13th annual Pack the Bus event was hosted by the Regional Interfaith Association earlier today.

The event was held at five local grocery stores across Jackson.

Pack the Bus is a food drive event that benefits the snack backpack ministry.

The ministry provides kid-friendly, easy-to-prepare, food to elementary school children who have little to no food over the weekends.

At each grocery store a bus could be found outside where RIFA staff were collecting food.

“So there’s just a little bit of a friendly competition at each location, just to make it fun to see which location raises, collects, the most food and or raises the most money. So, we’ll see at the end of the day today after we unload it all back at RIFA, and weigh all the food and count all the money,” said Lisa Tillman, Executive Director, RIFA.

According to RIFA, in 2023 they were able to collect 15 thousand pounds of food for the event.
