Ronald Gwyn Scarbrough
Born in 1932, Ron graduated from Chester County High School in 1949. In 1950, he joined the United States Army and served his country with distinction during the Korean War from 1950 to 1953 as a sergeant in the 45th Infantry Division. Following his service, he attended West Tennessee Business College to further his education.
Ron dedicated over three decades to Consolidated Aluminum (Conalco), where he worked from 1956 until his retirement in 1989. In 1957, he married the love of his life, Lula Clifford Scarbrough, and they shared 56 wonderful years together until her passing in 2013. That same year, they moved to Malesus where they made their home and raised their two daughters.
Ron was a man of many passions. He found joy in gardening, golfing, fishing, and traveling. Most importantly, he cherished time spent with his family and friends. A devout Christian, he was a long-time member and Deacon of Malesus Baptist Church, where he dedicated himself to his faith and community.
In addition to his wife, Lula Clifford Scarbrough, he was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Franklin Scarbrough and Ella Skinner Scarbrough; his siblings, Dale Scarbrough Stanfill, Blondel Scarbrough Lowery, and Howard Scarbrough.
He is survived by his two girls, Julie Scarbrough Bennett (Rusty) and Pam Scarbrough; grandchildren, Abbey Bennett Fratesi (Marshall) and Presley Bennett Everett (Ford); two great grandchildren, Ellie James Everett and Russ Welker Fratesi; and his two siblings, Carolyn Scarbrough Williams and Carl Scarbrough.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and dedication. His memory will be cherished by his family, friends, and all who had the honor of knowing him.
A service to celebrate the life of Ron Scarbrough will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with Bro. Adrian Knipper and Bro. Mark Cagle officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery in Malesus. The family will receive friends beginning at 9 a.m., two hours prior to the service.
The family requests memorials in Mr. Scarbrough’s memory be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the charity of your choice.
