Madison County mayor shares response on plans to make intersection safer
UPDATE (12/6/24): Woman faces several charges following fatal wreck on Windy City Road
JACKSON, Tenn. — Madison County Mayor A.J. Massey shares a response following Sunday’s fatal car accident at an intersection at McClellan Road and Windy City Road in northwest Jackson.
Mayor Massey began by sharing his condolences and prayers to everyone affected.
Massey agrees with Jackson Mayor Scott Conger’s choice to put up temporary rumble strips and flashing lights to alert people of an upcoming stop.
Mayor Massey shares that no traffic light or sign will stop someone from breaking the law but that, as a government, there is direct action to take to help prevent future accidents.
The current plan is to find out where issues may be using TDOT accident reports and figuring out what the issue is, whether that’s visibility, speed or something else, and taking action from there.
“Mayor Conger and I talked Monday morning for quite a while about this incident and about what we can do. I’m very pleased to say that he and I both are in lock step about spending the money that we need to spend on making sure that we have a data driven solution to that intersection and the issues that we see there,” said Mayor A.J. Massey.
Mayor Massey also shared that this accident has brought attention to other intersections to inspect.
