Carl Perkins Center to host 41st annual Circles of Hope Telethon
JACKSON, Tenn. — The 41st annual Circles of Hope Telethon is coming up here in the Hub City.
In a mission to prevent child abuse the Exchange Club-Carl Perkins Center is preparing for their 41st annual Circles of Hope Telethon that will be live from the Carl Perkins Center Sunday, August 18, from 1 to 6 p.m. here on WBBJ-TV, 101.5 FM Radio, and YouTube.
“Every year it is so cool to just see the amount of volunteers it takes to put on this event. Everybody comes in ready to help. There is no questions asked. They want to do whatever we need done to help raise funds for these children because it is important to them. It’s just as important to them as it is to us to make a difference,” said Madelyn Hefner, event and fundraising coordinator for the Carl Perkins Center.
Their mission essentially helps both parents and children meet the practical needs of preserving and improving the quality of family life in West Tennessee.
“Last year we raised a little over $1.5 million dollars and we plan to–our goal is always to raise one dollar more than what we made last year,” said Hefner.
The entertainment lineup for the day includes Reverend Jessie and the Holy Smokes, Hope Macgregor, the Stedman Roebuck ensemble, LoLo, and Paula Bridges and the Bandstand Review.
“Our theme this year actually is to be the ‘one.’ So, how many people does it take to make a difference? It really truly only takes you. It takes one and so you can be that one starting today or starting the 18th and visit our website at www.carlperkinscenter.org and make a donation or sign up to volunteer,” said Hefner.
It costs the center approximately $450-thousand dollars monthly to operate across all twenty counties. All services are provided free of charge to each client.
If you are wanting to participate and donate during the telethon, the number to call is 731-668-4000.
