Car crash in east Madison County claims life of 17-year-old

UPDATE(08/14/2024): Law enforcement releases details regarding fatal crash in Madison County

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — We received reports around 7 p.m. on Tuesday regarding a large first responder presence on Ranger Road in east Madison County.

Our crew arrived on the scene shortly after 7 p.m. along a stretch of Ranger Road to find the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Tennessee Highway patrol, Madison County Fire Department, Madison County Swift Water Rescue Squad and EMT’s on scene.

Law enforcement on the scene confirmed they were working a fatal single vehicle wreck.

We observed the Madison County Fire Department working with the swift water rescue squad to retrieve the vehicle, which was submerged in water beneath a bridge.

Around 10 p.m., the vehicle was lifted by a crane and placed on the bridge. In total, it took around three hours to remove the vehicle from the water.

In an incident report by the THP, they confirmed the single occupant of the vehicle was a 17-year-old who was driving south bound on Ranger Road when they ran off the road and overturned their vehicle into a creek.
