WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
We are expecting another round of rain showers to move through West Tennessee overnight and stick around into Wednesday morning. Unfortunately for most of us, we are not going to see much. It looks like anything beneficial is going to fall to the southwest of Jackson. The good news is there is a much better shot for rain coming in Friday morning and as of now, it looks like it is going to impact almost everyone and bring a decent amount.
Jackson has not recorded a drop of rain so far this August but chances will be returning this week. They will start late Tuesday and continue into the start of the weekend. It will not rain each day and not everyone is going to see rain, but chances are in forecast most of the week. The heat could also be coming back towards the back half of the work week as well. We will sort it all out for you right here.
TONIGHT:
Tuesday was a bit warmer with highs reaching the low 90s. We are also saw a mostly sunny afternoon before the clouds build in towards the back half of the day. A few showers may pop up this evening along the Mississippi River before tapering off after the sun goes down. More showers will pop up in the early morning hours as well. Rain chances are 40% on Tuesday night with most of them being west of Jackson. The winds were calm for the most part today and will be very light and vary in direction again tonight. Tuesday night lows will drop down to the low 70s.
WEDNESDAY:
Some shower chances will start up in the morning and last into the early afternoon across West Tennessee. The showers will be associated with a stalled out front that will likely stall out near the Mississippi River during the day. Chances for rain are 60% with again areas west of Jackson picking up the best chance. Skies will be mostly cloudy and the winds will be light and come out of the northeast. As the front pushes to the east late in the day, southerly winds will move back in keeping our overnight temperatures in the low to mid 70s.
THURSDAY:
Thursday will be warmer than Wednesday due to the southerly winds. The humidity will increase some as well and highs are forecast to reach the mid 90s. The heat index will likely be in the low triple digits in the afternoon and evening hours. A few isolated showers or weak storms are also expected to pop up but most of us will not be seeing them on Thursday. The most likely places to see rain will be along the Kentucky border late in the day. Thursday will be partly cloudy and Thursday night lows will only drop to the mid 70s to kick off our Friday.
FRIDAY:
The hot and humid weather will be returning on Friday to West Tennessee but a cold front will be approaching late in the day and will bring another round of showers and storms with it. As of now, Friday appears to be the best chance for rain for many of us across the region. Friday highs will again reach the mid 90s and it will feel into the triple digits in the afternoon and evening. The winds will come out of the southwest and the skies will be partly to mostly cloudy. Rain chances are 50% as of now but may go up as the week progresses and we have a better idea of the timing of the late week cold front. Friday night lows will again fall down to the low to mid 70s.
THE WEEKEND:
Depending on the timing of the late week front, we could see some showers and storms sticking around for our Saturday. Plus if the front stalls out, we will pick up a chance for a few showers to linger into Sunday as well. Highs could reach the mid 90s on Saturday or even the upper 80s depending on the timing of the front. Sunday will be cooler than Saturday but we should also see more sunshine on Sunday too. The winds will start out of the southwest before transitioning to the west and then the northwest this weekend as the cold front digs in. We will be warning the timing of the front as the week progresses and help you with your weekend plans to avoid any wet weather as well.
