1937 – 2024
Agnes Geraldine German Maher, age 87, resident of Somerville,
Tennessee and wife of the late Edward Anthony Maher, Sr., departed this
life Thursday morning, August 15, 2024 at her home.
Geraldine was born January 1, 1937 in Fayette County, Tennessee, the
daughter of the late Herman Freddie German and Georgia Bell Stainback
German. She was employed as a bus driver for many years before her
retirement and enjoyed gardening, working with flowers and fishing. She
was a caregiver to her grandchildren and many of her elderly friends.
Mrs. Maher is survived by five daughters, Billie Dean Taylor, Mary Agnes
Doss (Ernie), Patsy Ann Franks (Tom), Katherine Kay Clutts (Ben) and
Barbara Eddiy Miller (Jim); her son, Edward Anthony Maher, Jr.; two
sisters, Maxine Ferge (Ray) and Peggy Lee (Albert); two brothers, Roy
Neal German (Mae) and John David German; and numerous
grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four
sisters, Betty Ann Williams, Ruth Taylor, Judy Phillips and Kay Rutledge;
and three brothers, Herman German, Jr., Charles German and Thurman
German.
A visitation for Mrs. Maher will be from 1 to 2 P.M. Monday, August 19,
2024 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville. Funeral Services
will be at 2 P.M. Monday, August 19, 2024 at the Peebles Main Funeral
Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Mike Hollaway, pastor of Bethlehem Baptist
Church in Rossville, officiating. Interment will follow in Rehoboth Cemetery
near Somerville.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be James Miller, Rexford Burks,
Dylan Taylor, Mason Maher, Matthew Cook and Jimmy Summerlin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Taylor and Christopher German.
The family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Memorial
