Weekend Preview: Events in West Tennessee

JACKSON, Tenn. — If you do not have any plans this weekend, do not worry. No matter where you live in West Tennessee, no matter what you hobbies or interests are, there is something for you.

For starters, the Exotic Pet Expo is returning to the Hub City at the Jackson Fairgrounds. This event is always so much fun for returning visitors, and especially for new ones. Admission is just $5 and you will be able to see a wide variety of animals. It truly is fun for the whole family. The expo begins Saturday at 9 a.m. and will close at 5 p.m. It will also be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The West Tennessee Celebrity Softball Tournament is also returning to the Rockabillys Stadium on Saturday. The event begins at 4:30p.m. Gates will open at 1 p.m. with admission being $10. All proceeds will go towards the Dream Center.

The Obion County Fair is going on right now! It is located at 1711 East Church Street in Union City, at the Obion County Fairgrounds. Friday night, the fair will close at 10 p.m., however, you still have the chance to have some fun. It will continue every day, except for Sunday, until August 24.

Malesus Park in Jackson will continue the Movies in the Park series. This showing will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday’s movie is “Kung Fu Panda 4,” and it is completely free!

Finally, the 41st Annual Circles of Hope Telethon will be held Sunday from 1-6 p.m. at the Carl Perkins Civic Center. In their mission to prevent child abuse, the Exchange Club-Carl Perkins Center will be live on WBBJ-TV, 101.5 FM, and YouTube. Last year, the telethon raised a little over $1.5 million.
