Jackson police investigating deadly overnight shooting in west Jackson
JACKSON, Tenn. — Jackson Police are investigating after a deadly shooting in the Hub City this past weekend.
According to a release from the Jackson Police Department, the shooting took place just after 2 a.m. Sunday in the area of Greenfield Drive and Fox Lea Drive just off of Old Hickory Boulevard in west Jackson. Multiple shot spotter alerts indicated gunfire in the area.
According to investigators, a large street takeover block party with more than 100 juveniles and young adults was taking place.
When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was taken by ambulance to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital where that person was pronounced dead. EMS transported a second victim to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News attempted to speak to neighbors who live in the area of the shooting, however, no one wanted to speak on camera.
