Auditions start for ‘The Color Purple: The Musical’

JACKSON, Tenn. — Calling all actors and actresses, there’s an opportunity to take the stage.

The Ned is holding auditions for The Color Purple: The Musical.

Auditions were held today and will continue tomorrow, August 27 at 4 p.m. at The Ned. The musical centers on a young girl named Celie and it spans 35 years of her life.

Director Ebony Taylor says the audience will see Celie grow and that the goal is to give the audience hope.

“We know blue to be kind of sad and calm and covered up and red to be explosive and Celie we see a lot of her blue throughout her life but that red is always there bubbling up to the surface but she needs the balance she doesn’t need to be all red or all blue and that’s where the purple comes in,” said Taylor.

Performances for ‘The Color Purple: The Musical” are November 7-9 and November 14-16. For more information on tomorrow’s auditions click here.
