Don Lindsey
Don Lindsey, age 80, of Jackson, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on August 25, 2024.
Don was born on December 5, 1943, in Jackson, Tennessee, to the late Clark Lindsey, Sr. and Bernice Hancock Lindsey. He grew up in Beech Bluff and was educated in the Beech Bluff Schools, where he graduated from Beech Bluff High School in 1961. As a young student, he excelled in academics and was recognized as the Madison County Spelling Bee Champion in Junior High.
Raised in a faith-filled home, Don was baptized in the East Jackson United Methodist Church. When the East Jackson and Trinity Methodist Churches consolidated, he became a devoted and active member of the newly formed East Trinity United Methodist Church, where he continued to nurture his strong faith throughout his life.
On August 6, 1973, Don married the love of his life, Bonnie Jean. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised a family, sharing over fifty years of love, laughter, and memories.
Don was a hardworking and dedicated man. After a brief tenure at Conalco, he found his passion in entrepreneurship, owning and operating Don’s Texaco at East Chester and Hillcrest Circle for many years. His work ethic was unmatched, and he later continued his career with American Olean Tile before retiring from the JMCSS Bus Garage. Don’s colleagues fondly remember him as someone who could work circles around others, always going above and beyond to help his coworkers.
A man of many talents and passions, Don was an avid Professional Drag Racer, gaining national recognition in publications such as Hot Rod Magazine and National Dragster. His love for speed and precision was well known in the racing community.
Above all, Don cherished his family. He found immense joy in watching his grandchildren excel in their various sports, always their biggest fan on the sidelines. His love extended to his furry companions as well. Don had a deep affection for animals, especially his dogs, ensuring they were always cared for with the utmost attention—even installing central heat and air for their comfort.
Don will be remembered as a kind, tender-hearted man with bright blue eyes and an infectious smile. His home was always open to others, and he was quick to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His legacy of kindness, love, and generosity will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
