Marilyn Kay Winbush Hill
She was born on September 26, 1942, in Jackson, TN, to the late John Leslie Winbush and Vessie Lorraine Vires Winbush. Marilyn graduated from North Side High School in 1961, a milestone year that also marked her marriage to Robert Nolan “Bob” Hill. Their union was blessed with many cherished years together until Bob’s passing.
Marilyn was a dedicated homemaker who also served her community as an assistant cafeteria manager at North Side High School. She was a beloved figure to many, known for her warm heart and caring nature.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Nolan Hill, Sr., and two sisters, Hilda Kay Puckett and Rachel Winbush.
She is survived by her daughter Selina Gwin Giles (Wes) of Jackson, TN, and her son Robert Nolan “Bob” Hill, Jr. (Wanda) of Beech Bluff, TN. Marilyn was a proud grandmother to Andrew Stone (Alice) of Dunlap, TN, Johnathan Robinson (Elizabeth) of Medina, TN, Maegan Perry (Lance) of Fort Smith, AR, Edward Robinson (Brooklyn) of Brownsville, TN, Charlie Giles of Jackson, TN, and Cody Hill of Beech Bluff, TN. Her love extended to her great-grandchildren Kimi Bruce, Sheli Bruce, Addi Robinson, Charles Hunter Giles, Lucas Stone, Graci Robinson, Rebecca Robinson, Ohana Giles, Quinn Stone, Mahalo Giles, Edward Allen Robinson, Jr., Ethan Robinson, Kiera Giles, and Carley Robinson, and one great-great-grandchild, Luka Grimaldos. Marilyn is also survived by a dear family friend, Heather Rice.
Pallbearers for the service will be Andrew Stone, Johnathan Robinson, Charlie Giles, Charles Hunter Giles, Lucas Stone, and Lance Perry. Cody Hill will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
A service to celebrate the life of Marilyn Hill will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with burial following in Highland Memorial Gardens. The service will be officiated by Bro. Bob Hill and Bro. Andrew Stone. The family will receive friends at a visitation on Thursday evening, August 29, 2024 from 4-7 pm and again on Friday beginning at 11 a.m., two hours prior to the service.
Marilyn’s life was a testament to the importance of family, kindness, and dedication. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
