Man arrested on several charges following domestic violence report

FROM THE CROCKETT COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT:

911 CALL FOR SERVICE RESULTS IN ARREST AND EXECUTION OF A SEARCH WARRANT

ALAMO, TN – August 31, 2024 – At 1:53pm today, dispatchers received a call reporting domestic violence where a vehicle was rammed into another vehicle at a residence on Colvett Road. Officers arrived on scene and the CCSD Criminal Investigation Division responded which resulted in the arrest of one man and a search warrant being executed on the property.

Brett Spence, (DOB: 8/24/1988), was charged with aggravated assault – (domestic -strangulation – felony), possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony (felony), resisting arrest (felony), possession of schedule VI illegal drugs (felony), and possession of drug paraphernalia (felony).

Approximately $1,800 cash, and 28 guns were taken into evidence as well.

Sheriff Troy Klyce said, “Our officers, investigators, and community are all united behind the goal to take criminals off the streets. Two young deputies took the lead on this case today and I am proud of them. Their work makes our communities safer and better. I am also proud that we have added apprehension, tracking, and narcotic detection K-9s to our department. These K-9s are top of the line and were used today to take this suspect into custody. We will continue to leverage every tool and resource at our disposal to keep Crockett County safe.”

This case is being prosecuted by District Attorney General Frederick Agee of the 28th Judicial District. Mr. Spence will appear before Judge Paul Conley for an arraignment on these charges and a bond will be set that reflects the seriousness of these crimes.

The charges and allegations referenced in this release are merely accusations of criminal conduct and not evidence. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and convicted through due process of law.
