More than 50 teams face off in Martin’s ‘Pickleball Palooza’
MARTIN, Tenn. — The Tennessee Soybean Festival hosted their Pickleball Palooza on Monday.
Located at the Skyhawk tennis courts in Martin, the event involved a doubles only tournament with divisions that included all skills and ages.
There was also a money division that paid out the top three men and women’s teams, with a first place prize of $250.
The weather was beautiful and there was a great turnout, with over 50 teams taking part.
People traveled from across surrounding areas and from Kentucky to enjoy the tournament.
“Very, very happy with the turnout for this tournament,” said Barrett Belote, UTM campus recreation fitness and facility coordinator. “This is something that we’ve been looking forward to all summer, and we had a lot of last minute sign ups a few days before the last registration day, where we had about twenty or so that really expanded the tournament to what it is right now.”
Organizers are hoping the Soybean Pickleball Palooza will become an annual part of the Tennessee Soybean Festival.
