Jackson Parks & Rec previews Fall events, activities
JACKSON, Tenn. — Just because summer is coming to a close, does not mean the events in Jackson are going to end. There are still plenty of fun things on the schedule that residents can get involved with.
Whitney Billingsley, the Jackson Parks and Rec Community Engagement Director, tells us the plans.
“We’ll also have some new classes that we’re doing,” Billingsley said. “We’ll have ceramics, pottery, and the new class we are doing is crocheting. We are also doing some exercise classes at our Westwood center.”
Billingsley says they are focusing more on health and activity when it comes to events here in the Hub City. There are multiple ways that they are trying to accomplish this.
“We will be having two new health classes that we’re doing also at Westwood. A diabetes prevention program, as well as a keto meal planning program. So we just want to keep the community healthy, active, and involved,” Billingsley said.
There is also another event returning this spooky season. It was a big hit last year, and Billingsley says they are hoping to make it even better this time around.
“The Halloween at the Market. This will be our second annual,” she shared. “It’s at the West Tennessee Farmers Market. It’s gonna be October the 29th, which is the Tuesday before Halloween. Businesses will come out and give away candy. We’ll have some fun things going on that night. We may have a DJ — we are hoping to change things up a little bit.”
Billingsley says it is always important to have events going on around the area, not just for the fun and leisure activities to be available, but also for the community to come together and connect.
